A Message from Our CEO
Aug 09, 2022
Today is a sad day at Absci. And a sad day for me. This morning we said goodbye to a number of our colleagues and friends. As the founder of this company, I was deeply impacted by this decision, and I, together with the Executive Leadership Team and Board of Directors, did not take it lightly. The people of Absci have been, and always will be, the lifeblood of the company. To those impacted by todayโs events, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your passion and commitment to our goal of bringing better drugs to patients.
While we are closer to achieving this goal, the macro-economic conditions of the last few months prompted us to engage in a comprehensive business analysis to focus the company on those activities that will create the greatest value. The workforce reduction streamlines our operations and R&D activities that we are prioritizing including continued development of our AI drug and target discovery platforms. By focusing our resources, we are positioning ourselves to better enable the creation of next-generation medicines. While this does not make the decisions any easier, we know that disciplined and strategic prioritization puts us in a better position to be successful.
As founder and CEO, I have a deep responsibility to all our employees, partners and shareholders. While reorganizing the business was a difficult decision, it will make the company financially healthier and secure our long-term growth plans and vision. There is no easy way to approach a workforce reduction. From the start of this process we have been passionate about doing the right thing for our affected employees. All impacted employees will be offered a separation package to support them in their transition.
I always knew that creating the impossible was going to be hard – however, parting ways with talented friends and colleagues is even harder.
Looking forward it remains our mission to change the world, one protein at a time and we will keep building to drive our platform forward.
Finally, to our impacted employees, I want to thank you for all the many ways you have contributed to Absciโs success and to wish you the very best in the next chapter of your career. You will always be an Unlimiter.
With gratitude,
Sean
